PROCESS OF STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

There are various ways of implementing a strategic HRM in your organization. One of the ways you can do this is presented in the figure to the right.

Six steps can be identified to implement strategic human resources management:

- The preparation phase in which the organization should investigate the necessity, ability, willingness and ownership of the strategic human resources management project;

- The organizational profile phase in which you describe your organizations profile;

- Based on the organizations profile you can select dominant themes that have to be dealt with in the strategic human resources management project;

- The development of the HRM department phase. In order to execute the strategic human resources management project the HRM team might need new skills and competences while new supporting tools might need to be introduced;

- After the first four steps a project plan should be prepared indicating who, how, when, where and the cost/budget of the strategic human resources project;

- Finally the strategic human resources management project should be implemented.
